Drawing us in with a dark-wave adjacent guitar soundscape, expanding with cerebral notions, The Spitting Pips open Green Eyes with a bold, alternative rock dimensionality and the lyrics, “She’s got them eyes, they captivate me and she’s got that sweet sweet touch that gets under my skin…”
We immediately connect with the poetic prowess and the unfolding ode to The Spitting Pips‘ muse. Fans of Placebo, Muse, The Strokes, The Cure and Garbage will be able to connect with the sound that manifests, and the instrumental mastery of the song is tangible and cinematic.
The chorus is immersive and catchy, and we love the Brit-pop “woo-hoo” ad-libs that punctuate the hooks. The narrative is pretty timeless and taps into notions of human connection in a pretty timeless way. We could imagine the track being featured in lots of different films and TV shows, notably Twilight, Sucker Punch, Buffy, or Wednesday.
Speaking on the inception of Green Eyes, The Spitting Pips‘ vocalist, lead guitarist and songwriter Zachariah Storm confesses, “I wrote the song whilst drunk trying to impress my gorgeous fiancée. It is about her green eyes.”

Zachariah then took the idea to the band, who developed it together, before recording it with Sugar House Productions, with the final track mastered by Robin Schmidt. We learn that The Spitting Pips have built a strong live reputation.
They have performed across the UK and Europe, including shows in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Bremerhaven, and have supported Buzzcocks at Manchester’s Albert Hall and shared festival stages with Happy Mondays, Peter Hook & The Light, Inspiral Carpets, Echo & the Bunnymen and Cast.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Green Eyes to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we watch the cinematic performance video showing the band in their element, and continue to stream the wider discography of The Spitting Pips, including Vicious Circles, Get Together, and Plastic Jesus.
