We previously featured Chris Kinkade for his band Parked Outside’s cerebral and genre-expansive sophomore single, Whispers of 1000 Dreams Ago, so when we heard that Chris was back with the poetically titled, She’s in League with Angels, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
She’s in League with Angels opens with a vinyl texture and a series of rippling harp glissandos, creating a fantastical and whimsical energy with an astral vocal synth. The opus expands with a high emotional quotient and dimensionality as Chris performs the harp with great passion and intricacy.
Chris shares the title of the track with a vintage vocal aesthetic as he paints a vision of his muse. We appreciate the authenticity and cinematic allure that manifests. There is no doubt that the track would be the perfect score for a Sofia Coppola film, or a movie like Lucy.
In essence, She’s in League with Angels unfolds as a heartfelt and atmospheric exploration of an ethereal connection with angelic beings. It’s trippy and cerebral at the same time with psychedelic and conscious adjacency – almost otherworldly. The piece is accompanied by an artistic music video bringing to life Chris’s skill on the harp, but also visuals of angels.
Based in Southern California, Chris Kinkade is a versatile musician whose solo work stands in contrast to his background in rock bands Parked Outside, Elsewaves, and King-Kade. Whilst his collaborative projects showcase his rock influences, his solo recordings are rooted in the expressive sounds of the Celtic harp and inspired by memories, dreams, and the mystique of ancient worlds.
Speaking on his art and ambition, Chris tells us, “I have a unique niche, kind of singer-songwriter / new age by way of the Celtic harp fused with a commitment to being authentic. I would love to find an audience that would find my music a comforting place to explore their inner selves away from the noise and chaos of day to day life. A brief respite to refresh the body and nourish the soul.”
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added She’s in League with Angels to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Chris Kinkade, including Manon’s Lament, and The Soul of the Beauty.
