One of the most genius aspects of every ReeToxA release is that they offer a Karaoke Version to fully invite listener engagement. The messages of each of their releases are so unique, poignant and relatable, encouraging a deep connection with fans, and their latest release, You Deserve Better Than Me is no exception.
You Deserve Better Than Me opens with an intimate electric guitar riff, expanding into a glistening rock soundscape with textured drums and a dreamy bassline. The prose feels like a movie; it’s sincere and emotive, perfect for a sync placement in a movie like Voicemails for Isabelle, or The People We Meet On Vacation.
In essence, You Deserve Better Than Me is about recognizing when a relationship isn’t meant to be, even if the other person is kind, and deserving of love. Naturally, it is inspired by a real date. The song explores the difficult yet honest decision to walk away when the emotional connection isn’t present, instead of leading someone on.

Written and performed by ReeToxA frontman Jason McKee, the ballad was inspired by a memorable Tinder date. Jason shares how the date began with genuine promise, but ended with realizing that he couldn’t offer the relationship his heart.
Once again, the track was recorded at Melbourne’s Avenue Recording Studio with producer Simon Moro. You Deserve Better Than Me definitely features a warm, sing-along arrangement (perfect for the karaoke version), that contrasts with the heavier material on the Soliloquy album.
We deeply connect with the song’s emotional maturity, which emphasizes compassion and honesty, acknowledging that sometimes caring for someone means letting them go. Needless to say, we continue to be in awe of what ReeToxA create and have added the philosophically profound You Deserve Better Than Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of the band, and anticipate future releases.
