We previously featured Mark Moule for a cinematic storytelling journey through a historical and personal narrative on Eyes of Izzy, so when we heard that Mark was back with No Control, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his universe once again.
No Control opens with a cinematic acoustic guitar soundscape with spiritual, textured drums and astral whistle tones as Mark shares poetic prowess with philosophical, universal depth and a captivating timbre.
In essence, No Control is a poignant reflection on feeling powerless during a difficult period of life and struggling to find stability in a world where so much seems beyond our influence. We could imagine it being featured in a film like Limitless or Purple Hearts. Mark shares how the song reflects on the irony that although modern life is built around control, we often have very little over the things that matter most. In that sense it also feels deeply zeitgeist.

Fans of Dire Straits and The Eagles would be able to connect with No Control, and we could also imagine Mark performing the song at a spiritually-inclined music festival like Medicine or Soul Revolution. The way that his voice breaks towards the end of the song feels so raw and authentic and truly taps into our heart’s centre.
Written and performed by Mark Moule, we learn that the track draws directly from his own experiences. He confesses, “This song was written as I was going through a hard time, in a time I felt I had no control.” Although written years earlier during a particularly challenging time, it was recorded in a single spontaneous session at Dave Mann‘s studio in Western Australia.
Needless to say, we continue to be in awe of what Mark Moule creates, and have added No Control to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Mark Moule, including Only Love, Killer, and Coming Down.
