Drawing us in with a brooding bass synth and astral gated melodies manifesting with a cosmic yet subversive vibe, TomSki-Tomasz Stefanski opens Light in the Fog with cinematic allure and drama. The opus expands with an 80s drum riff to tap into a dimensional and cerebral nocturnal vibe.
We appreciate the dynamism of the piece, and the metallic textures fused with the atmospheric, celestial production. A microtonal melody emerges which adds further intrigue to the composition and we are hypnotized by the sonic universe that TomSki-Tomasz Stefanski is creating.
There is no doubt that the composition would be perfect for the score of a film like Lucy by Luc Besson, or Limitless. The evolution is sublime and builds into a high octane, glistening energy that we could also imagine experiencing poolside on the rooftop of Petit Ermitage in West Hollywood, where dark psychedelic tracks of this nature often find their home.

The mid-way switch up to a dance-hybrid beat is welcome and we vibe with the diversity of production style and genre-expansive nature of what TomSki-Tomasz Stefanski manifests. Speaking on the release, he says, “The inspiration behind the track comes from the image of a distant light breaking through dense fog – a metaphor for finding direction and hope during uncertain times.”
The message actually feels highly zeitgeist considering the state of society at present. Fans of Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Röyksopp and Kraftwerk will absolutely be able to connect with Light in the Fog.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Light in the Fog to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of TomSki-Tomasz Stefanski, including No Ticket, and his EP, Dance With The Sun.
