We previously featured Ben Heyworth when he took us on a high concept and dimensional trip with his single, Sleepwalker, so when we heard that the visionary artist was back with The Girl From The Gardening Club, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with a textured drum riff, expanding into a dimensional soft rock energy with a cerebral vintage organ synth line, Ben Heyworth opens The Girl From The Gardening Club with instrumental mastery and poetic prowess as he takes us on an intimate and cinematic journey.
We immediately connect with Ben’s knack for storytelling. He paints a super vivid picture of his muse, which has a timeless energy and a high emotional quotient. Fans of The Beatles, Crowded House, The Beach Boys, and The Eagles would absolutely be able to connect with what Ben is delivering.
In essence, the song is a whimsical and somewhat psychedelic ode to The Girl From The Gardening Club and at the same time invites us to connect with nature. The instrumental segues are transcendental, and we love the high emotional quotient that Ben Heyworth conveys. The 60s-inspired vocal harmonies are sublime, and create a cohesive tapestry of sound, along with the intricate guitars. The track even fades out – something we do not nearly experience enough of these days!
There is an unmistakeable cinematic allure to The Girl From The Gardening Club, and we could imagine the track being featured in a show like Sirens on Netflix, the more psychedelic Nine Perfect Strangers, or an episode of My Life with the Walter Boys.

We learn that the track is a collaboration with Ben’s band Minorplanet, and is intended to celebrate “all things horticultural and botanical”, described by the creators as “a summer banger, perfect for a lazy Sunday or a hazy afternoon.”
It was produced at Blueprint Studios by Gary Hadfield, and the music video features Liv Morris as the Giant Tomato, created by artist Alice Boland-Rhodes. As for the exquisite instrumentation, the bass is provided by Dave Lilley, drums by Wai Ching, and guitar by Ben Laws with songwriting by Ben Heyworth and Minorplanet.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added The Girl From The Gardening Club to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Ben Heyworth, including Sleepwalker, The Moment, Bridezilla Caterpillar, and Tell Me, What Is Love?, and anticipate future releases.
