We previously featured The Essence of The Universe for the dreamlike, psychedelic reflection on love and regret with Ave Maria, so when we learned that the project was back with Bring All Your Lovers, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Bring All Your Lovers opens with a padded kick and astral guitar melody before The Essence of The Universe share a high emotional quotient with the lyrics, “And the talk shows in the sun, machine gun, and the world is losing touch, machine gun, the fire′s in the sun, fire’s in the sun…”
In essence, Bring All Your Lovers explores the tension between love, truth and violence in a world that feels spiritually and socially broken. It is highly zeitgeist, and extremely emotionally adept. This really comes through in the delivery, the prose, and the production.
It showcases the collapse of certainty, where we cannot easily distinguish reality from illusion. The depiction of the chaos we currently live in is metaphorical but also abundantly clear. Fans of The Smashing Pumpkins, The Eagles and 30 Seconds To Mars would be able to connect with the depth that is being shared here.

Against this darkness, the repeated invitation to “bring all your lovers” and the imagery of “beautiful time, beautiful wine” feels like a call to tap into oneness, and love energy. The final question, “Who was I to find the one?” introduces notions of humility and doubt.
Speaking on the release, the band poignantly says, “Bring All Your Lovers is a raw, hypnotic blast of psychedelic rock moving between aggression and intoxicated haze. The song collides images of media spectacle, violence, spiritual paradox and cosmic fire.”
We could imagine the track being played at Medicine Festival, and would also be perfect for a movie like the Oscar-winning One Battle After Another. We deeply appreciate the track as a fragile but powerful act of resistance, and have added Bring All Your Lovers to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Ave Maria, and anticipate future releases from The Essence of The Universe.
