Establishing the mood with a cerebral bass frequency featuring panning static details, which expands with laser-like synths and a dimensional club beat, Russ Lorenson and Mike Hawkes open the Pride Remix of I Love Paris with the lyrics, “I love Paris in the springtime, I love Paris in the fall, I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles, I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles…”
The track evolves with an astral 80s synth, tapping into a super dynamic and sensual energy. Overall, the piece is a genre-expansive experience rooted on the dance-floor. The production is exquisite, and the vocals add a raw authenticity to the track.
We feel like fans of Madonna‘s latest Confessions 2 era would be able to connect with what Russ Lorenson and Mike Hawkes have created. The release also aligns perfectly with Pride season, and as much as the track would be a vibe in the club, it is also perfect for a late-night drive.
We deeply connect with the pulsating notions and the intricacy of the sound design, which is hypnotic and keeps us enthralled throughout. Speaking on the re-imagining of the Cole Porter track, Russ confesses, “One of the things I love about the Great American Songbook is that these songs continue evolving long after they were written. Cole Porter wrote ‘I Love Paris’ in 1953. Seventy-plus years later, artists are still finding new ways to interpret it and new audiences are still connecting with it. That says something extraordinary about great songwriting.”

The remix will make its official dance club debut during Paris Pride 2026, bringing the song to audiences at one of the world’s largest Pride celebrations. There is no doubt that the remix also holds a cinematic allure, making it perfect for a TV show like Heated Rivalry on HBO or Elite on Netflix.
Known for his work in musical theatre, cabaret, and vocal jazz, Russ Lorenson has spent more than 20 years keeping Great American Songbook classics fresh whilst respecting their original spirit. His recent 20th Anniversary releases have focused on revisiting and reimagining earlier recordings with a stronger jazz influence.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Russ Lorenson and Mike Hawkes‘s Pride Remix of I Love Paris to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Russ Lorenson, and anticipate future solo releases and collaborations.
