The last time that we featured Every Other Weekend was for the introspective, nostalgic and philosophically heartfelt single, Memories, so naturally, when we heard that Resolution had just been released, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Resolution opens with an emotive piano performance with bass chords and astral melodies, expanding into a luscious guitar-rock soundscape. Every Other Weekend shares the philosophical lyrics, “So wanna learn how to talk about it with somebody that you don’t know, cos there’s a freedom in the eyes of strangers, freedom from the sins you hold…”
We immediately connect with the emotional depth of the song and the introspective nature of the prose. The artist continues, “There’s a suitcase by the window, clothes across the floor, when you’re reaching for a resolution, but you’re staring through an open door…”
Visually, the narrative of the song is vivid and we really appreciate the human nature of what manifests. There is no doubt that Resolution holds a cinematic allure too, and would be perfect for a sync placement in a TV show like Euphoria, or Knokke Off.

On his creative process, Every Other Weekend, also known as artist Chris Bull, tells us, “When I moved back to London I was fortunate enough to be able to live with my mum for a while as I regrouped. I found myself drawn to the old piano that my dad first taught me on. This melody fell out of the sky, and I loved it so much that I decided to let the piano carry the chorus. The lyrics are deliberately very simple. I think I was just trying to convey a feeling rather than any particular message or story.”
We learn that Resolution was created with Chris’s friend and former bandmate Mike Grice, who laid down the lead guitar. Chris adds with deep authenticity, “You know how we’re all anxious, struggling to make meaningful connections with people, and generally take life way too seriously? Shall we just play some music?”
We love the track and would imagine that fans of The Smashing Pumpkins would also be able to connect with what Every Other Weekend has delivered. We have added Resolution to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Every Other Weekend, and anticipate his upcoming album!
