Our obsession with DJ Druskin seems to grow with every listen. We previously featured him for inviting us into a frequency of renewal and rebirth with his poetic single, Sittin in the Garden, and before that for With the Dawn, so when we heard that he was back with the Electro Swing Bloom MIX of Sittin in the Garden, our curiosity was piqued, and we couldn’t wait to listen.
The Electro Swing Bloom MIX of Sittin in the Garden opens with an epic trumpet riff, expanding into a super dimensional and vibrant 1920s big band jazz vibe featuring playful vocal ad-libs. A contemporary house beat comes in to create this notion of nostalgic-futurism and needless to say, we are in awe.
We deeply connect with the dimensionality of the composition, the piano riffs and of course, the narrative of the song itself. For some background, DJ Druskin previously told us, “I wrote this song during a forced period of stillness while recovering from surgery. From my conservatory, I spent my days watching a robin hop around the garden and noticing the first buds appearing on the plants. That simple act of watching life return – shaking off the “shadows of the winter light” – became a metaphor for my own recovery.”

This makes the reworking of the song even more poignant, like an evolution from healing into euphoria. It feels so important on a spiritual level. The rising artist adds, “I wanted Sittin’ in the Garden to feel like that first perfect day of sunshine after months of cold. But more than that, it’s a runway. It establishes the groove, the vintage aesthetic, and the energy that we are about to take into a completely different, darker, and more exclusive space. It’s the transition from day to night.”
The track has a lot of commercial appeal, and we could imagine the Electro Swing Bloom MIX of Sittin in the Garden being featured in a multitude of adverts, perhaps for a bank, a summer destination, or a supermarket. Fans of We No Speak Americano by Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP would love this too!
We learn that this version of Sittin’ in the Garden was intentionally created as a transitional piece, establishing the vintage electro swing groove, energy and aesthetic that leads directly into DJ Druskin’s next original single, Speakeasy.
Of course, we cannot wait to hear it, and have added the Electro Swing Bloom MIX of Sittin in the Garden to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the original version, With the Dawn, and anticipate Speakeasy!
