Establishing the mood with a rising frequency, a cinematic strings arrangement and piano, SerGo (Serge Gorbman) opens Farewell Song with a high emotional quotient and ethereal vocals from Ofri Afek as she sings, “What will be when we meet saying only goodbye, when the hero is dead but no-one will cry…”
We immediately connect with the drama and introspective narrative that manifests. There is an ancient energy that transmutes, and this is solidified by the nature of the poetic prowess of the prose.
We could imagine the track being featured in a TV series like Game of Thrones, or a film like Dune. In essence, Farewell Song serves as an emotional pop ballad that explores themes of goodbye, resilience and hope.
The orchestral build of the track with pizzicato strings is sublime and truly taps into our heart centre. The choral vocal harmonies add drama, and the eventual climax is truly awe-inspiring. After the epic strings segue, we experience a stripped-back moment allowing for introspection before a captivating and anthemic chorus reprise with cosmic ad-libs, leading through to another epic strings moment before the final ethereal vocals intertwine, leaving us with an atmospheric delivery and a piano outro.

We learn that Farewell Song is actually a reimagining of a musical theme Serge Gorbman originally recorded a quarter of a century ago. Using modern production tools such as Cubase 15, SONAR 2025, and Melodyne 5 Studio, Serge Gorbman transformed the original composition into a sweeping orchestral-pop production. The track also introduces 18-year-old vocalist Ofri Afek.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Farewell Song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of SerGo, including Magical Ball.
