Establishing the mood with a techno beat and textured topper, Vase opens LIMINAL PHASE, Pt. 1 with cerebral dimensionality and a hypnotic energy. The opus expands with a subversive and rising bass synth line; this evolves with dynamism as the topper subsides.
The cinematic allure of the composition is undeniable. We could imagine the track being played at a rave at FOLD or UNFOLD in East London, or perhaps as the score for a film like Blade, Lucy, or Limitless.
A sonic switch-up into an 8-bit energy invites us into a more spacey mindset with a psychedelic, futuristic edge. This is punctuated with a reverbed, bouncy synth detail that expands with another metallic melody.
The build of the production is sublime, the industrial climax leads to a full circle moment where a warbling bass returns as the main protagonist to close off the track. We appreciate the high spiritual quotient of LIMINAL PHASE, Pt. 1, and learn that the inspiration behind the track is “the ancient connection between humanity and music and its ability to elevate consciousness.”
As for what drives Vase in his intentional creativity, the composer cites, “Music motivated as a response to the dark political playbook that is negatively impacting on societies/cultures.”

Vase, also known as Vase* Hagakure 13), comes from Harlow. He emerged from East London’s free party soundsystem scene of the 1990s and early 2000s, championing Detroit minimal techno and Chicago house, whilst developing a unique style shaped by over thirty years of classical music training and influences from Underground Resistance, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, and Terrence Dixon.
LIMINAL PHASE, Pt. 1 was recorded at Medway Studios with engineer Jesse Skeens, blending analogue outboard gear and digital mixing to create a distinctive sound exploring tribal roots and spiritual ascension.
