We last featured Cas du Pree in 2023, when he released an authentic and heartfelt dedication to his favourite city, London, so when we heard the rising Dutch artist was back with Prism, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his universe once again.
Drawing us in with a meditative frequency and pizzicato bass arpeggios, Prism opens with ethereal ad-libs of the words, “Oooh, let me shimmer in the night…”. The opus expands with a high emotional quotient as Cas du Pree sings, “Let me take it all in to feed my soul, in the heat of this moment, let me take control…”
The track has a spiritual energy as Cas du Pree shares how he will be our “prism in the dark…”. The concept is euphoric, poetic, and visually sublime. We love the message of the song, it’s true the rainbow-tinted light that we all need right now.
As society faces turmoil and the clawing back of LGBTQ rights all over the world, Cas is truly sharing an important and illuminating message. We could imagine this being featured in a TV show like Heated Rivalry or a scene with Jules in Euphoria on HBO. We love the layered vocals, the sublime harmonies and the overarching cinematic vibe that manifests.
Speaking on the release, Cas confesses, “This track is personal yet again. It really says a lot about my personality. I can be real sweet, but also a real pain in the ass. That’s why I wrote a song about a prism. Like me, as I am the prism in this track, I can really give you a real colourful and friendly person if you bathe me in light. But bring me darkness and get pitch black in return.”

Recently signing with EastLondon Recordings, Cas shares how he has found the perfect balance between maintaining creative independence and benefiting from label support. For Prism, he mentions drawing inspiration from Dua Lipa, Sam Smith, and Elton John, but there is no doubt that what Cas is creating is unique to his own design.
We learn that Prism was recorded at Arron Storey’s UK studio, where Cas laid down thirteen additional tracks. The single offers an exciting glimpse into the star’s evolving creative direction! Needless to say, we cannot wait to hear more, and have added Prism to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Cas du Pree‘s wider discography, including Beautiful In White, and Man Of My Word.
