We previously featured Sean Tweedley when he explored introspection and emotional depth with the cinematic new single, Hazy Daze, so when we heard that the talented artist was back with Ooola Hooora, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his world once more.
Ooola Hooora opens with a drum stick count in and a slide guitar melody with astral nuances as Sean sings, “I wake up every day, look in the mirror, I rub the fog away to make it clearer, I recognise the face, the name escapes me…”
The track expands with a highly memorable hook featuring the title of the track as Sean’s journey continues with metaphorical depth. There is a vibrant charm that manifests, and Sean confesses, “This song has a few different meanings. One of them is of the relationship inside a person between the aggressive animal they are, and the more tender-hearted one they become.”
We love how visual his songwriting is, it feels like a movie in its own right. The momentary break before the choral finale is a genius move, and we could imagine the track being featured in a film like The Hangover, Sliding Doors, or 17 Again. His vocal fry is also super captivating!

On his creative process, Sean says, “I was trying to achieve a certain groove. I used a simple bassline and set it up front, and a mix of acoustic and electric guitars to fill out the rhythm. I also included my very first use of slide guitar. It’s just a short lead in the instrument bridge (which is about my limit right now but I love the sound so I’m gonna keep practicing).”
Needless to say, we really appreciate the playful and upbeat energy that Sean brings to life with the track, and have added Ooola Hooora to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Sean Tweedley‘s wider discography, including Hazy Daze, and Candy Like the Water.
