Establishing the mood with padded 80s-adjacent drums and a melodic guitar soundscape, Remora Beach opens Tired Heart with notions of a slowed heartbeat, cosmic vocal harmonies, a cinematic allure and the brooding lyrics, “Lost when you hid in plain sight, hoping for other people…”
The opus expands with vulnerability as a commentary on the fickle nature of love. We could imagine Tired Heart manifesting a multitude of sync placements, notably a Sofia Coppola film, or melancholic scene in a Luca Guadagnino production. Equally, it could be featured in an episode of Euphoria, or Nine Perfect Strangers.
The astral guitar solo, intertwined with 60s-style harmonies is sublime, before the lyrics take on a more cathartic energy, laced with realizations as Remora Beach claims his own worth, and taps into a more assertive frequency as he sings, “Cos after all, this tired heart is mine…”
We connect with the high emotional quotient, the raw authenticity and Remora Beach‘s deep-rooted poetic prowess. Speaking on the message of Tired Heart, Remora Beach says, “This song is about struggling with empathizing too much and empathizing with the wrong people. Most of the subject matter deals with mental health struggles, recovery, and grief.”

On his Instagram, Remora Beach candidly writes, “Anyone who knows me knows that I have been through some shit that no one should have to but unfortunately many do. I have lost a parent, struggled with depression/anxiety/PTSD, and felt lost for a major chunk of my adult life. I am grateful that all of these struggles have led to me creating songs that I am truly proud of and will hopefully help others going through similar struggles. These are the first two singles from my debut album Flinch.”
Remora Beach cites Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, and Beach House as sonic influences, and also credits the production of his co-writer and producer, Roland Faunte, but there is no doubt that Remora Beach is manifesting a sonic universe unto his own design.
We deeply connect with the journey that takes us from brooding melancholia through to self-realization and ultimately catharsis, and have added Tired Heart to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Remora Beach, including the accompanying track, Family Wisdom, and await the release of Flinch.
