By now, you will know that we are obsessed with Grim Logick. To align with the artist’s 30th birthday, he released a highly personal, yet assertive track called Trauma Pit (Call The Bluff). In essence, the rising star delivers a powerful and cinematic performance.
It fuses his signature brand of raw storytelling with epic and orchestral production. Naturally, the track is full of drama and intricacy, almost like the soundtrack to the movie of his life. Trauma Pit (Call The Bluff) is a raw and honest reflection on Grim Logick’s life, looking back on the pain, crime, and trauma that shaped him.
He also exposes the harsh reality of addiction, drug dealing, violence, paranoia and notions of survival. As we know, he raps from real experience, and describes his past in the drug trade, counterfeit money, weapons, and the emotional scars that it all left behind. It’s really quite vulnerable, but through his pain he has found power in music.
The chorus emphasizes that he does not seek validation, and he acknowledges the mistakes he has made, whilst his daughters give him purpose and motivation. It’s about redemption, self-awareness, and finally finding peace after years of turmoil.
There is a strong sense of realism in his writing, bringing to mind early Eminem. We could easily imagine this track featured in an episode of Beauty in Black on Netflix, as it matches its tension and emotional darkness perfectly.
We have added Trauma Pit (Call The Bluff) to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream Grim Logick‘s growing discography, including the entirety of Cipher Chronicles: The Network Archives.
