Establishing the mood with a meditative frequency featuring delicate acoustic guitar, DJ Cards opens his new single, Between the Lines (Slowed), with atmospheric vocals and intricate production that feels intimate yet cinematic.
The opening lyrics, “I measure time in deadlines, but feel it in the silence… somewhere in between the noise and the still, I found something real…”, tap into a reflective vibe with notions of balancing modern pressure with a longing for something more meaningful.
There is a beautiful contrast at the heart of Between the Lines (Slowed). What begins with an introspective and almost fragile motif, gradually builds into an exploding EDM energy. It is the kind of euphoric elevation that we could imagine during a sunset set at Tomorrowland. The emotional payoff is powerful, especially as the hook arrives with the words: “I feel it… like I’m finally alive,” transforming the idea of personal reflection into pure festival catharsis.
We appreciate how intentional this version is. Rather than simply reducing tempo, DJ Cards uses space and restraint to allow the message to breathe. It becomes less about the drop and more about the emotional architecture, whilst still delivering a melodic uplift.

The track feels built for both personal late-night listening and large-scale live moments, making it equally suited for sync placement in film, and particularly television, perhaps a Netflix show like Million Dollar Secret or an episode of Traitors.
With over a decade of experience as a drummer, DJ Cards brings an instinctive understanding of rhythm and groove into his music. After years of live instrumentation and experimenting with synths, his shift toward EDM feels natural. It allows him to merge musicality with modern electronic intensity. Outside the studio, DJ Cards carries the unique distinction of being a Philadelphia-based attorney, earning him the nickname “The Lawyer Who Drops Beats”.
We have added Between the Lines (Slowed) to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of DJ Cards, including Lose It in the Lights, and Driving.
