We last featured MARQ ELECTRONICA in 2023 when he touched on the concept of controlling relationships with his single, Never Go Away, so when we heard that the talented artist was back with Be There, we couldn’t wait to hear his evolution and share our experience.
Be There opens with a subversive and cerebral bassline with panning dimensionality, expanding with an emotive melodic synth and textured drums. MARQ ELECTRONICA shares the introspective, almost vulnerable and somewhat existential lyrics, “When all is said and done, will you be there? When all the races are won, will you be there? When the world has had its time, and there’s no reason or rhyme, when the sky start to fall, will you be there when I call?”
Needless to say, we immediately connect with the zeitgeist of the emotion that his prose conveys and the innate need that we all share for connection. The mix is sublime and the synth lines remind us of MGMT, which is a great thing, as they are super known for manifesting a high emotional quotient, which is exactly what we feel when we hear Be There.
The build of the track with a nostalgic dance-piano invites us into a reflective yet euphoric state. The sentiment has a cinematic allure, and would be perfect for a multitude of sync placements – perhaps a pivotal scene in a TV show like Euphoria on HBO, or an episode of Heated Rivalry.
There is no doubt that MARQ ELECTRONICA is writing from a deep-rooted place of authenticity, and this really comes to life not only in his delivery, but the sound design itself. The three year hiatus has certainly served the artist well, and Be There really feels like a return to form.

Speaking on the release, MARQ ELECTRONICA confesses, “Lyrically it is about needing reassurance but musically it is about making you dance and enjoy yourself. I write my songs using loops and samples and sometimes construction kits to hang the rest of the track on and then the lyrics come. I’ve always worked that way music then lyrics even in bands it’s been rare where the music takes second place to the lyrics. This hopefully marks a return to more tracks and more gigs as I navigate the music scene.”
On future projects, he adds, “I have been working on a number of collaborations and a darker more sophisticated sound on some forthcoming tracks but still love my dance music.”
We love what MARQ ELECTRONICA has created with Be There, and have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of MARQ ELECTRONICA including Nervous, and Never Go Away.
