We previously featured Tahani when she reminisced on the intentional and cathartic single, 17, so when we heard that the rising star was back with Don’t Come Knocking, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in her sonic universe once again.
Drawing us in with an emotive piano performance and atmospheric vocals, Tahani opens Don’t Come Knocking with the introspective, situational lyrics, “Tell me why you’re here, knock knock knocking on my door, it’s not like we’re still close, we don’t even talk now, not like we did before, two years apart, yet you’re still obsessed, I healed myself from you, I chose peace, I chose rest…”
We immediately connect with the narrative and the cathartic notions of the song.Tahani‘s vocals are sublime and we appreciate her poetic prowess. The orchestral build of the production is incredible.
Essentially, Don’t Come Knocking is about confronting an ex who tries to come back after causing deep hurt. Tahani has already gone through the pain, processed it, and moved on. There’s a strong sense of enforcing her boundaries, which is important and the assertive energy that we all need.
Don’t Come Knocking also captures a shift in power and identity. Tahani has grown from begging to growth and the knowledge that reconciliation is now impossible. Sure, there’s anger, and this comes through in her poignant delivery, but it’s controlled and rooted in self-respect now. Lines about being in a better place show closure, whilst the repetition of the line, “cry all you want, just not at my door”, reinforces that the past is firmly shut down and no longer open for revision. Tahani says, “Don’t Come Knocking isn’t just another breakup song, it’s a full-bodied transformation captured in sound.”

Fans of Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood would absolutely be able to vibe with what Tahani is creating, and we could imagine the song in a film like Someone Great, Enough, Promising Young Woman, or a TV show like Euphoria where a female lead deals with a past partner who won’t stay gone and ultimately shuts that door for good.
Hailing from Coleford in England’s Forest of Dean, Tahani is a UK singer-songwriter building a distinct identity through her emotionally driven, vocally powerful anthems. Working from her home studio, she collaborates remotely with Liverpool-based producer Dan Scholes, a partnership that began with a chance TikTok connection last summer!
Needless to say, we are in awe, and love what Tahani is creating. We have added Don’t Come Knocking to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Tahani, including 17, Twist Of Fate, and Burnout.
