Drawing us in with a meditative synth, expanding with psychedelic notions, Steam Lizard opens Music Is My Medicine with dimensionality and atmospheric vocals that resonate like a mantra as we experience the words, “Music is my medicine… dance away the pain…”
The opus evolves with intentionality and a pulsating beat as we are taken on a journey of catharsis with the relatable theme of connecting with sound. The trance-adjacent, yet commercially viable production is pristine, there is a nostalgic futurism that manifests – in line with the conscious concept of the track.
Lyrics like, “I’m a believer, in music the healer, it takes my troubles away, my identity, my dance-floor community, never truer than today…” feel so important and necessary. So many of us connect with music as a source of healing, and to experience an artist share this so clearly on a dance-floor ready track is the unity we all need right now. With the current state of the world, Music Is My Medicine is the type of message we should all be privy to.

Speaking on the story behind the euphoric track, Steam Lizard, also known as artist and producer Steve Bonham, confesses, “Inspired by watching a school hall full of kids dancing without hesitation, no phones, no pressure, just pure movement, Music Is My Medicine captures that feeling of freedom returning to the dance-floor.”
Steve continues, “We’ve all been at events where the crowd seems more focused on filming than feeling the moment, but the culture is shifting. More and more, people are reconnecting with the dancefloor as a place to let go. This track taps into that spirit.”
We love the optimism and intentionality behind the track, and could imagine this being played at clubs around the world – a movement that has already begun, plus festivals like Tomorrowland and Coachella.
Needless to say, we have added Music Is My Medicine to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Steam Lizard‘s wider discography, including the Extended Mix and Club Mix of the track, plus Fireworks Tonight, and Looking Good.
