We previously featured m0n0 jay when she tapped into cerebrally empowering notions with her eccentric and experimental debut single, L.L.L. (Lift, Lift, Lick It), so when we heard that the rising star was back with the (ATH Remix) of L.L.L., we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in her universe once again.
The (ATH Remix) of L.L.L. opens with a pulsating and psychedelic trance energy with a hypnotic, high-octane BPM. Trippy and atmospheric ad-libs of the hook draw us in further before m0n0 jay delivers a captivating vocal with the original prose.
There is no doubt that the track is club-ready, perfect for a night at FOLD or a day party at UNFOLD in London, equally, it would go down well at a Boogie Network event. The production is sublime and euphoric. We appreciate the pulsating intricacy, the astral synths, the glitched design motifs and the cosmic ebbs and flows, aligned with the conceptual lyrics.
The switch-up one third of the way through the track to a darker, techno-adjacency is epic, almost haunting and sensual at the same time. Overall, the track is highly surrealist, and the silences speak volumes. The final third is again on a darker, more “Berghain” vibe per se, and certainly would invite ecstatic dancing.
Speaking on the release, m0n0 jay says, “This remix drops my piercing soprano vocals over an abrasive, heavy bassline designed for 3:00 AM basement raves. Candy Gym when lights go dark.”
We learn that ATH is the moniker of French producer, Arthur Conseil. We deeply connect with how he has re-imagined the song, and love the diversity that m0n0 jay is offering as an artist barely in her debut season.
