Establishing the mood with an intricate drum riff and cinematic, glistening guitar soundscape, Grainville Train open New Hand To Hold with notions of timelessness and the lyrics, “I saw a river, wide and slow, which carried dreams where I can go, the sky was open, the Earth was still, I felt support, I felt the thrill…”
The opus expands with poetic prowess and introspective depth, as we are taken on a journey with a high emotional quotient and a concept of renewed togetherness. The metaphorical manifestations of nature give a double meaning to the song. As much as it is about human connection, New Hand To Hold invites us to be at one with our planet. Released in the wake of Earth Day 2026, this feels very zeitgeist and important.
On a philosophical level, the band explains, “What if you aren’t actually changing direction, but seeing it clearly for the very first time? New Hand to Hold captures a moment at the crossroads. It’s that split second when you look back – not to stay there, but to understand how you arrived where you are… and to know exactly where you are headed. It is a story about the courage to let go of the old and step toward the new – the moment you stand at the crossroads and the horizon calls you forward.”

We learn that the song was written and composed by band leader and guitarist, Esa Hautaniemi, and the creators cite The Eagles and Tom Petty as their greatest musical influences, but there is no doubt that they are designing a creative universe of their own.
It is no surprise that the band’s previous single Michaela claimed the “Most Voted Song” title at the Final Music Awards 2026 (UK) and reached the semi-finals of the prestigious International Songwriting Competition (ISC) 2025. What Grainville Train is creating is raw and authentic timeless perfection.
The cinematic allure of the track is also undeniable and we could imagine it being featured in a film like Marty Supreme or perhaps a TV show like PLUR1BUS on Apple TV, which focuses on themes of oneness and a renewed spirit for humanity. Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added New Hand to Hold to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Grainville Train, and anticipate future releases.
