Establishing the mood with a fierce and dimensional guitar soundscape, The Lazz opens Observer with a quintessential metal-adjacent, stadium-ready energy and we are enthralled. The opus expands with melodic depth, intricacy and ethereal vocals.
We appreciate the poetic prowess and the metaphorical depth that manifests. Vivid descriptions and philosophical depth guide us with an epic vocal production, in part to the innovative technology used to bring this message to life.
There is a cinematic allure that comes to life, and there is no doubt that Observer would be perfect for a range of sync placements – notably a movie like Dune, or even a futuristic Game of Thrones style series.
“I am the one that gives the void a name…” is one of our favourite lyrics, and the guitar solos are simply transcendental. The drums firing like machine guns are a genius touch, and the concept feels highly zeitgeist, a commentary on society as we know it.
Speaking on the intention of the project, Ben Lazzaro, the architect behind the project who is a veteran composer and guitarist with over 40 years of experience, confesses, “The mission of The Lazz is to bridge forty years of musical heritage with the frontier of modern technology to explore the depths of the human psyche.”

Ben continues, “We are dedicated to the rebirth of dormant compositions – some held for decades – by fusing authentic, veteran guitar and bass performances with the precision of AI-assisted production. Moving beyond traditional rock tropes, we aim to provide a high-impact sonic experience that inspires self-discovery, deeper thinking, and intellectual honesty.”
The end product is really quite outstanding, and Ben’s experience truly manifests as a cohesive collaboration with technology. As for the prose, Ben says, “Our lyrics prioritize the exploration of the internal human experience over commercial clichés, seeking to connect with listeners who value music that challenges the mind as much as it moves the soul.”
Needless to say, we are in awe of the track itself, and grateful for Ben Lazzaro‘s progressive authenticity in shepherding the project. We have added Observer to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of The Lazz, including Shadows, The Resonance, and Mask of Sanity, and immerse ourselves in his cinematic universe.
