Drawing us in with an intricate acoustic guitar performance with an orchestral yet meditative strings arrangement, Fiona Amaka opens Love That Fills My World – Acoustic Version with a timeless, cinematic allure.
Fiona shares her captivating timbre with the metaphorical lyrics, “Like a father to a child, a strong shield and how, how could I doubt you in my life, when you talk you light the way, the song you’re singing, how could I doubt you?”
With a subtle key change, symbolising that move from introspection to epiphany, Fiona sings, “When I know you, I know you, I know that you love me, I know that you love me…”. The star’s voice illuminates like a light bulb turning on, a notion of self-realization. Now with a tempo shift, once again showing authenticity and demonstrating the raw and intentional human nature of the song, Fiona taps into a more philosophical dimension for the hook.
We love the charisma and sentimentality that we experience. It is clear that Fiona is writing from a very real place. In the face of so many overly produced songs, to experience the British artist’s humanity with this release is nothing short of sublime. A luscious guitar solo follows, reminding us of early Dire Straits.
We learn that Love That Fills My World – Acoustic Version was recorded in London with producer and session guitarist Andy Zanini. Speaking on the release, Fiona confesses, “It’s one of our most popular songs in a live band setting, complete with long guitar solos! So this orchestral folk version with violin and cello is a completely different take on the song, and an experimental sound which is a bit tricky to fit into a genre. It’s part classical, part blues and part rock. Andy’s classical training definitely played a big part in shaping the sound.”
With reference to the cinematic accompanying music video, Fiona adds, “I’ve been simply amazed at the response since sharing video clips of the song. The video was filmed at the London Wetland and Wildlife Trust centre, and it’s been really well received. It feels great to take a risk and try new things musically.”
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Love That Fills My World – Acoustic Version to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Fiona Amaka, and await future releases!
