Drawing us in with a textured kick, hi-hats and a luscious guitar melody, Mick J Clark opens I Want It More Than You with poetic prowess and a personal tale of triumph as he sings, “I was raised in rags a poor hungry child, you quickly learn the rules to stay alive, you made me more of a man, this life now I understand, nobody gives you anything for free, you’ve got two choices you can beg on your knees, or you can fight for the right to show that you’re the very best, better than all the rest…”
We are immediately inspired by this tale. His voice is delicate and captivating. The instrumental mastery that the song exudes is exquisite. We can always expect precision and intricacy from Mick J Clark, and I Want It More Than You serves this up and more with a side of a high emotional quotient.
Speaking on his authentic innovation, the visionary and established artist tells us, “Nobody influenced me, the song somehow came to me and I spent weeks writing and finishing it. I never go looking for songs, it came to me. I am someone who never gives up.”

The guitar performances are out of this world and fans of Dire Straits will absolutely love this. There is a cinematic timelessness to the song which would be perfect for a sync placement in a TV show like MobLand, or a movie like Marty Supreme.
The chord change for the bridge where Mick sings, “I want it more than life itself, I want it more than you can tell, to lose would be my living hell…” is a transformative moment which leaves us in awe before a dimensional finale and fade out.
We learn that the song is from Mick’s EP, Me My Body and I, produced at Garage Studios by Martin Smith from the ’70s band ELO (Electric Light Orchestra). As always, we are obsessed with Mick J Clark‘s sound, and have added I Want It More Than You to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the entirety of Me My Body and I!
