Our obsession with StarAV seems to grow with every listen. We last featured the artist for his collaboration with venice lockjaw on the atmospheric and ethereal single, Unseen, and before that when he teamed up with Kirk on the transcendental single, Endless. When we found out that StarAV was back with falling down, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his universe again, and share our experience.
falling down opens with crescendoing waves of meditative, cinematic soundscapes followed by a metallic beat, astral glistening textures, and atmospheric vocals as StarAV shares introspective prose.
We appreciate the journey that we are being taken on and StarAV‘s range and subtle timbre switch up as he conveys his mindset with ethereal notions. As for the narrative, there is vulnerability, existentialism, regret, and sadness present in the lyricism.
“Save yourself, I’m not the one, too far gone, I’m selfish, did you wrong, I meant it, you’re alone in my little world…” sings StarAV accompanied by a thunderous bassline. This is juxtaposed by a celestial falsetto and delicate harmonies. We could imagine the track locking in a number of sync placements, notably the upcoming season of Euphoria on HBO.

The pitched vocals for the finale are sublime as we are invited to connect with our inner child. StarAV concisely tells us, “This was recorded in my room. I was looking after a cute dog which was also very nice. The producer wishes to remain unknown. I don’t know what magic the mixing guy did but it sounds very cool and I am very proud of how it sounds.”
We love how raw and elusive StarAV is, and have added falling down to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of the rising artist, and anticipate future releases!
