Our obsession with Joshua Pearlstein seems to grow with every listen! We last featured the rising star when he showcased his inner boyband energy with the dynamic single, Just The Feeling, so when we heard that Joshua was back with Wanna Dance, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his sonic universe once more and share our experience.
Wanna Dance opens with a static glitch and a bass-driven mood with cerebral synths, before Joshua shares a vocal delivery that is very *NSYNC in nature, and needless to say, we are immediately enthralled. He sings, “I just wanna dance…” with a sublime falsetto, showing us his vocal versatility and epic range.
The theme of the song is relatable, and the escapism to the dance floor feels much needed in today’s day and age. The production is epic, tapping into 90s and 2000s nostalgia, and absolutely cementing Joshua’s current sound.
There is no doubt that the talented artist is locking into an energy that feels unique to this era. The astral synth solo breakdown is dope, his vocal harmonies are transcendental and overall, the track feels super fun, playful, and flawlessly executed. The finale reminds us of Michael Jackson, whilst fans of Backstreet Boys will also be able to connect.

We learn that the single is designed to mark the next chapter in Joshua’s fast-rising trajectory, where he has already surpassed 1.3 million streams. He shares how the song was written in “one sleepless sitting” and “captures a moment of pure creative urgency.”
Joshua confesses that “the song is about shedding pressure, silencing expectations, and reconnecting with the simple, instinctive joy.” He adds, “There’s so much pressure to prove yourself, to be something. This song is about letting all of that go and just dancing, what I love to do.”
Wanna Dance was mixed by Yianni AP and mastered by four-time GRAMMY winner John Greenham, which certainly helps to explain how epic the sound is! We have added Wanna Dance to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Joshua Pearlstein‘s exquisite growing discography!
