Establishing the mood with breathy and atmospheric vocalizations, Neon Palace opens Closer with a subversive, pulsing bassline and a delicate delivery of the lyrics, “Walked in, knowing why I came, didn’t dress like this for anyone else, found you through the noise somehow, felt the room begin to slow…”
We are immediately enthralled by the narrative that is unfolding, and the relatable nature of the prose. There is a definite cinematic allure that manifests with the track, which would be perfect for a movie sync placement like the upcoming sequel of Jennifer’s Body, or an episode of Euphoria on HBO.
We love the minimalism of the production, but also the pristine sound and vocal design. The ad-libbed harmonies are sublime and we can imagine that fans of Billie Eilish, Addison Rae, FKA Twigs and Massive Attack would be able to connect with what Neon Palace is delivering.

The sensual dark electronica vibes feel fresh and hypnotic overall. We learn that Neon Palace is a new arrival from Ireland, intentionally introducing a sound that stands apart from the current landscape.
Closer takes its time, letting each sound settle naturally. The idea of slowing down feels really important and zeitgeist today, and this is what the track offers and brings to life. Nuanced sound design elements keep us hooked whilst the overarching sentiment invites us to breathe and connect with each other.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Closer to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we stream Neon Palace’s debut single, Signs, and anticipate future releases from the innovative Irish electronica project.
