Accompanied by a rhythmic piano soundscape, DAN opens Firestarter with the situational prose, “It’s sunset on Friday, I’m stuck on the highway, it’s been a while, I’m late to the party, you’ve already started the sparkling wine…”
We are immediately enthralled by the narrative and the pristine vocal production with ethereal echoes and astral nuances. There is no doubt that Firestarter holds a cinematic allure, making it perfect for a multitude of sync placements, notably a coming-of-age TV show or film that reflects the story of the song, perhaps an episode of Euphoria on HBO, or My Life with the Walter Boys.
The opus expands with textured drums and self-realized lyrics, as DAN shares the relatable message of looking for a Firestarter. Speaking on the release, the German multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer confesses, “These aren’t exactly the easiest of times. There’s war all over the world, and that doesn’t leave me unscathed.”

DAN continues with philosophical and introspective depth, “Maybe that’s why my current releases are so uplifting, positive, and motivating. Because that’s what I need. I need people around me who are positive. Positive music. And what I need most right now is a Firestarter. Someone who rekindles my fire and helps me not to lose heart, to stay positive, and to keep my chin up.”
We deeply connect with what the release represents, and of course it helps that the production is flawless, dynamic and engaging, and the metaphorical lyrics are laced with poetic prowess. DAN is a master of his art form and we are grateful to experience Firestarter as a concept and track.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Firestarter to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of DAN, including Secrets, Light Up The Night, and Let Em Fail.
