Establishing the mood with an intricate piano performance, Red Guru opensThe Tide (stylized:The tide) with a high emotional quotient, a luscious strings arrangement, and hummed ad-lib vocalizations before sharing the words, “Woke up to the same gray ceiling, same four walls ain’t feeling, rent due, phone on silent, my brain, I dodge violence…”
The opus expands with raw authenticity and poetic prowess with a timeless hip-hop production as Red Guru conveys notions of familiarity and relatable themes that many of us face in society today. The R&B hooks are sublime with layered vocals and an orchestral energy that taps into our heart’s centre. The second verse evolves with cerebral ad-libs and builds with drama and intensity to bring to life the introspective message of the song.
Overall, the energetic frequency is exquisite and we can imagine The Tide locking in a multitude of sync placements, notably a coming-of-age movie that reflects the lyricism, perhaps something like Marty Supreme.

Speaking on the release, Red Guru, also known as artist Milton Fowlin, confesses, “I [am] mainly inspired [by] classical music, hip-hop, rock, soul, R&B, Motown, and blues…” He adds with reference to his collaborative process with Suno AI, “The whole song is based on my hook that the piano does amazingly from me humming in to the Suno app.”
Milton re-iterates, “Basically, I want to work with Suno AI. Even though I have a history of being a professional producer, singer, and songwriter, I tried Suno once and never looked back. As long as I can hum a hook, I’m willing to suggest my ideas for the melody and instruments to Suno and build from there.”
We appreciate the transparency, and how Red Guru is embracing new technology. We have added The Tide to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Red Guru‘s wider discography, including Purpose, and Sweet Hearts.
