Establishing the mood with a shimmering guitar soundscape, expanding with textured drums, Movin’ On open Absolutely with dynamism and the introspective lyrics, “Is this the end as we know it, been fading out for a few weeks and months, your words are like a poison chalice…”
The opus expands with a relatable message about the potential end of a relationship. Energetically, Absolutely reminds us of early Arctic Monkeys, and there is no doubt that the song has a cinematic allure, perfect for a film with similar themes, perhaps something like the recent romantic comedy, Kissing Is the Easy Part. We appreciate the timelessness of the prose and the poetic prowess of the track, as well as the high emotional quotient of the production and chord changes.
There is something magnetic about the balance vulnerability and drive within the constructs of the track. The choruses feel more authentic than manufactured, whilst subtle production details, particularly in the guitar layers give the track a notable richness and warmth.
We learn that Movin’ On are a rising indie outfit from the North West of England. The project began with songs written by vocalist and guitarist Elijah Jenkins, later expanding into a close four piece featuring guitarist Alfie Powell, bassist George Bengree and drummer Scott Disley.

Their artist moniker was inspired by a casual WhatsApp exchange. It captures the conscious spirit that runs through their music: notions of escapism, nostalgia and the urge to keep pushing forwards. It is designed to reflect the tension between holding on and letting go. This is a theme that underpins much of their work.
Absolutely marks their debut, and was produced with Ady Hall and Lee McCarthy at Sugarhouse Studios in St Helens. Becoming known for their passionate, high energy live sets, Movin’ On have played Scruff of the Neck and This Feeling shows across the region. A headline date at Liverpool’s Jacaranda marks another milestone, with further releases and UK shows planned as their momentum continues to grow.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Absolutely to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from Movin’ On!
