By now, you might have noticed that we are obsessed with Galaxy Thief, having featured the inspiring Timewaster, and the authentic and anthemic single, Reason. When we heard that the four-piece had just released the brand new and intriguingly titled, Second Messing, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back.
Drawing us in with an intricate electric guitar soundscape and a vibrant, stadium-expansive rock sound, Galaxy Thief open Second Messing with situational prose with reference to a human connection.
“Call me in the dead of night, tell me that you’re missing me, that’s alright…” invites lead singer Rhys Messenger, as the band take us on a journey designed to document the relatability of the start of a relationship.
Rhys, who also plays rhythm guitar on the track is joined by George Bowerman on lead guitar and vocals, Ben Watton on drums and vocals, and Jake Trim performing bass and vocals. Overall the band create a cohesive and dynamic tapestry of sound, which naturally has us in awe.
Speaking on the release, the song’s primary writer George confesses, “Second Messing is the track for that person who won’t give you a clear indication of where things are going.” He continues, “Where most songs are about being either in love or out of it, Second Messing fills that no man’s land between being interested enough but still unsure whether you want to commit.”
Second Messing is the second song in a series of five singles recorded at Woodworm studios with producer Michael Smith. The guitar solo is incredible, and we love the choral way that the foursome’s vocals work together, delivering their signature anthemic vibe. We know that the band are mesmerizing to experience live, as Galaxy Thief have already performed at Bestival, Silverstone F1 Grand Prix, and headlined Southampton’s Music in the City.
