Establishing the mood with an Americana guitar riff and playful vocalizations and ad-libs, Leo Brawdy and CJ Clarke open Over You with the lyrics, “Oh babe, I’m sure I mentioned it, even if you don’t recall that part, it’s not something I would’ve skipped, when I knew I was falling hard….”
We immediately connect with the charm and high emotional quotient that manifests with the song. The chord progressions are sublime and the timeless nature of the soundscape taps into notions of nostalgia.
In essence, Over You serves a comedic breakup rant dressed up as a country-pop joke. The message insists how the pair were honest and committed, but how they feel unfairly accused and misunderstood. There’s frustration for sure, but it’s masked with humour and exaggeration.
It also has a cinematic appeal, with a sublime guitar solo, and spoken word moments – all in all bringing to life a super unique sonic experience which has the potential to lock in a sync placement for a movie that reflects the narrative of the song, an episode of Love Is Blind on Netflix, or more importantly a whiskey commercial!

To make the point, Leo Brawdy and CJ Clarke compares each other unfavourably to whiskey. They share how whiskey is reliable, comforting, and drama-free, even if it might by emotionally distant. It’s half fantasy and half self-aware sarcasm. It also pokes fun at celebrity crushes and insecurity. The songwriting is clever and feels highly zeitgeist too in that face of interpersonal relationships and love connections in 2026.
Behind the project is artist François Domain, the producer shaping the Leo Brawdy universe. He confesses, “This one is pure fun. It’s glitter, chaos, charm – the kind of song that makes you laugh, dance, and forget your dignity by the second chorus. It’s a couple argument… but make it a party.”
Needless to say, we love what François Domain aka Leo Brawdy is creating, and have added Over You to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Leo Brawdy, including the entirety of his Neon Rodeo album!
