Drawing us in with a dimensional synth melody and an 80s drum riff with clicks and an astral, glistening vibe, Lynney Williamson opens the Fumez Remix of I See You with a dance-floor-friendly energy and the contemplative lyrics, “I wonder how much she can take, I don’t wanna see her drown or make a mistake, I wonder where she’ll go…”
We appreciate the laser-like precision of the production and dynamism that the composition manifests. The vocals are electrifying and the lyricism holds a high emotional quotient which adds to the intentional value of the track.
Speaking on the message, Lynney confesses, “This song is about my friend Donna who had developed arthritis and sadly her mum passed away last year who looked after her, so the song has an emotional undertone. I wanted to make sure the song itself was positive sounding and something that she could dance along to in her chair and that she would love too. Taking a sad song lyrically and then creating something upbeat and happy around it just makes it so good.”

We learn that Lynney Williamson is a Glasgow-based singer-songwriter who crafted the track in her walk-in cupboard recording setup. She produced the intro and outro samples herself, whilst Myke contributed the main keyboard instrumental from his Yamaha synth at home. Fumez, owner of the record label EastLondonRecordings, handled the mixing, shaping the nostalgic 80s sound. Lynney tells us how the song draws inspiration from 80s icons like Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks, capturing the magic and synth-driven energy of that era.
We love the sound, and the conscious depth of the track, and we are sure that Donna is honoured to be Lynney Williamson‘s muse in this situation. We have added the Fumez Remix of I See You to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Lynney Williamson, including STARS and Shadows.
