Drawing us in with a brooding synthscape and astral melodies with an orchestral and cinematic energy, Sharbel Wahbee opens The Portrait of Us with the consciously astute prose, “In the silence of beginnings, when the world was only light, we were wanderers of wonder, chasing shadows in the night…”
The opus expands with a high emotional quotient and poetic prowess as we are taken on a journey through the universe and beyond. In essence, The Portrait of Us is about human connection on a collective level.
It taps into our shared lived experience and notions of oneness as a planet and species. It is about what ties us together beneath labels like nationality, background or identity. It serves as a commentary on shared memories, empathy, emotional resonance and the feeling of recognizing oneself in others.
The choral vocals and anthemic vibes really bring this to life. The track is stadium-ready with a grandiose build into the concept of “together we become the sun”, which might feel meta, but is also literally science. Musically, the slow cinematic build mirrors this idea.

We deeply connect with the reflective depth about unity, shared humanity, and the emotions that connect us beyond visible differences. This type of message is needed now more than ever as humanity is so divided. In that regard, The Portrait of Us holds a very zeitgeist energy.
We could imagine The Portrait of Us being featured in the salvation scene of a Hollywood apocalypse film, or a nature or space documentary. There is no doubt that the track would also be epic to experience in a live setting.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added The Portrait of Us to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Sharbel Wahbee, including the entirety of his 2025 EP, Whispers from Beyond.
