Establishing the mood with an astral electronica energy and a cerebral bassline, Killing$pree opens Ephemerals with dimensionality and atmospheric vocal ad-libs. The opus expands with a textured riser as the bass becomes more prominent within the mix. Glitched moments amplify the vibe and we are sent into the cosmos with a refined and dynamic switch-up.
We appreciate the cohesive tapestry of sound which taps into notions of ancient-futurism. There is a high spiritual resonance, but also the overarching energy feels like we could be on a journey through space and time. We connect with the ebbs and flows that keep us enthralled throughout.
The instrumental mastery that Killing$pree demonstrates is genius. We are hypnotized by the composition and the genre expansive uniqueness of the piece. As for the context of the name, it fits perfectly, as Ephemerals comes in at mere two minutes, leaving us yearning for more.
Ephemerals serves as a deeply personal release from the Finnish producer. We learn that the track was created entirely in his home sanctuary in Pieksämäki, and is designed to reflect a raw and honest approach to music-making, which is shaped by notions of solitude, resilience and emotional endurance.

Drawing inspiration from the “phonk” community, Ephemerals also reflects the influence of artists such as Kiraw, Devilry, and $lothbaby6, whilst Killing$pree clearly manifests an authentic identity of his own. Born from Killing$pree’s personal traumas and lived experiences, the song feels like a cathartic release that combines strength and sadness with motivation. There is also a cinematic allure – perfect for the score of a film like Limitless or Lucy.
The recording process adds further depth to the release, as we learn that Killing$pree completed the song whilst enduring a headache. He confesses to working with an ice pack pressed to his head throughout the session.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Ephemerals to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Killing$pree‘s previous two singles, Empty Lane, and Street Reapers.
