We previously featured ninemansion when he teased his upcoming EP with the assertive and dimensional single, Brand New Weapon, so when we heard that the talented rising artist was back with You Could’ve Just Told Me, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!
You Could’ve Just Told Me opens with an airy riser and a meditative, glistening synth crescendo, before ninemansion shares his pitched, hyper-pop meets hip-hop hybrid style vocal delivery with situation lyrics with reference to a romantic connection.
We appreciate the cultural references, the switch ups, and the cerebral nature of what manifests. The kick drum is perfection and the trippy and psychedelic nature of the production is sublime. Overall, it feels highly transportive.
The message is meant to capture the quiet collapse of love through silence, confusion and unspoken truths. Rather than exploding with anger, the track sits with notions of numbness. It focuses on the moment when someone emotionally detaches without explanation. The unanswered “why” becomes the core ethos of the song.

There is no doubt that You Could’ve Just Told Me showcases ninemansion‘s skillset as a poet. It is a raw and emotionally charged release. It is also designed to set the tone for his upcoming 21-track debut album, My Favorite Stranger, out December 23.
Based in Virginia, ninemansion began as a producer in 2020 and stepped into rapping in 2023. He blends emo-plugg, digicore, and modern rap with anime-inspired aesthetics and digital culture. His music balances vulnerability and confidence.
Needless to say, we continue to be in awe, and have added You Could’ve Just Told Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we await the release of My Favorite Stranger, and continue to stream ninemansion‘s wider discography, including Moon, and Resonance.
