Establishing the mood with a dimensional synthscape with psychedelic nuance, almost as if we are tripping into another universe, SHASAU opens Alicante with intrigue and dynamism. The opus expands with cerebral notions as we are taken on a sublime and meditative journey with a pulsating beat and cosmic textures.
We appreciate the glistening, high spiritual quotient of the composition, and the escapist elements. There is no doubt that Alicante would be perfect to experience at the beach, in the sun, as exemplified by the 8-bit pixel-art accompanying music video.
The visual takes us on an imaginative journey from a boardwalk to the beach, with a flying suitcase, splashing in the water euphorically, taking a canal boat to a beachside town, buying a watermelon and eventually experiencing a sunset, which is aligned to a more transcendental and peaceful part of the track as the beat pulls out. We then take a rocket to dinner in the stars, and eventually going to sleep as the track concludes.
We learn that SHASAU is an AI-forward man-machine project led by veteran producer Vadim Militsin. Alicante serves the second music video from the EP of the same name, released via OMNINORM Records.
Militsin, who has explored everything from hardware synths to fully virtual production environments, places SHASAU among his most AI-integrated endeavours. Alicante is designed to reflect this synthesis: a whimsical but allegorical work that reminds viewers that every tool still serves an artist’s vision.
Naturally, we are in awe, and have added Alicante to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the entirety of the Alicante EP, including Taurine, and Tango Loco.
