Establishing the mood with a cerebral soundscape with astral flute tones, percussion claps, a reverberating bassline and immersive synth notes, Richard Green opens Fake Moments with intrigue and dimensionality.
The composer really does put the “neo” in neo-classical, though the opus does expand with some more classical, almost baroque elements. We appreciate the fusion of eras and genres with syncopated nuances, and almost psychedelic moments. The beautiful strings arrangement certainly gives it a rich and poignant atmosphere.
There is an almost 8-bit adjacency that manifests, and we could imagine the track being featured in a 90s video game like Sonic The Hedgehog or Zelda. We learn that Fake Moments is actually is a deeply intelligent yet nostalgic track for the artist.
He philosophically confesses, “This track is closely linked to a time that could happen to all of us, cause we are human and not machine, when all the beautiful moments seem to slip away, that is why I called this track Fake Moments, as the moments of happiness we live is just fake – a sadness is just after waiting for us.”

Despite being recorded in less than two days, the composition captures a strong sense of expression and feeling. It was originally part of Richard Green’s 2023 EP Illusions (stream below), and was designed to reflect on fleeting moments of happiness and the sadness that can follow. This makes the piece relatable and heartfelt.
Richard Green’s illustrious background in music, studying for ten years in London, shows in the complexity and care of his compositions. With upcoming projects, including a melodic Techno EP in 2026, the high octane nature of Fake Moments serves as a teaser as Green continues to explore diverse styles, proving himself as a versatile and innovative artist.
As always, we are in awe, and have added Fake Moments to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Richard Green, including Holding a Gun, and A Story.
