Establishing with a panning industrial synth, textured drums and a cerebral bassline, Colour Of The Sky opens Only Answer with subversion and intrigue. The opus expands with an astral melody, akin to a synth flute with an almost Middle Eastern charm.
We appreciate the cohesive tapestry of sound that unfolds, as well as the dramatic nuance that comes to life with the composition. As the bassline and static synth pull out, we are met with a more playful melody that intertwines before a strings riser leads us once more to the industrial synth, wrapping around us with metallic energy.
There is no doubt that Only Answer would make for the perfect score to a film – a psychological thriller, a murder mystery, or perhaps even a James Bond 007 movie or video game! Colour Of The Sky confesses, “It’s inspired by driving out of [a] job in cold winter evenings.”
Written and created entirely by Prague-based musician Michael Marek, who has a background in classical music, we deeply connect with the captivating and atmospheric track, and how it shifts unexpectedly tapping into subversion but with a 70s psychedelic disco vibe.

We learn that the piece was produced, mixed and mastered in just three days – designed to showcase Colour Of The Sky’s ability to fuse styles in a way that feels fresh and engaging. The composer adds, “It was interesting because I did everything in three days. Even the mixing. Which is normally not that case, but for some reason it came out quickly. And from the production side I was trying to combine a dark, dramatic electronic sound and then in the middle of the track switch to 70s disco track with groovy bassline.”
Naturally, we are in awe, and have added Only Answer to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Colour Of The Sky, including Silver Screen, and Melt Into The Sea.
