Establishing the mood with the sassy spoken word introduction, “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed…”, ViperSnatch open Sweet Melodies with a fierce and expanding punk-rock guitar energy and atmospheric vocals.
Laced with poetic prowess and delivered with sultry nuance, Sweet Melodies is essentially about a relationship that falls apart as adulthood arrives. The motif shows two people who might still be in love as reality is catching up with them. “The real world” becomes a symbol for responsibility, work, and notions of emotional truth that are replacing youthful fantasy.
ViperSnatch see their partner as unreliable and somewhat performative. They feel abandoned and let down as the other person tries to look cool instead of committing. The idea of wanting perfect love “first go around” shows the partner’s immaturity.
The repeated demand to “write about you” reveals a lingering bitterness. The band refuses to immortalize someone who has created shame and disappointment. The concept of Sweet Melodies can’t cover the pain, and the final lines manifest in a cathartic release, finally telling the truth instead of romanticizing the past.
There is a cinematic allure that comes to life, the track would be perfect for a sync deal in the upcoming reboot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. We could definitely see ViperSnatch performing at The Bronze in New Sunnydale! At the same time, it would be a great fit for the new Cruel Intentions TV show with its 90s vibe.

We learn that Sweet Melodies is the band’s first release in over a year. We love the emotive and almost meditative central bridge moment rebuilds into an epic second half, retaining the high octane vibe that we are gripped by throughout. Building on the emotional weight of 2024’s Therapy, the track is designed to capture the sting of broken promises with blunt honesty
The trio consists of Lily, Riley, and Kailee, who all deliver their signature Riot Grrrl fire with razor-edged precision. Lily’s vocals cut deep, rising and cracking with heartbreak and authenticity, whilst Riley’s drumming is tight and urgent reminiscent of iconic bands like Hole – the finale solo is simply out of this world, and Kailee’s bassline cements the bold attitude.
We have added Sweet Melodies to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to explore the wider discography of ViperSnatch!
