Establishing the mood with a dimensional, tropical synthscape, Exzenya opens ‘Till I’m Drunk & Confused with a vibrant energy and her signature timbre as she sings, “I’ll down alcohol till I’m too drunk to call…”
The opus expands into a situational tale which serves as an important message, as with all of the philosophical artist’s releases. In essence, Till I’m Drunk & Confused is a bright and bittersweet reflection on losing someone you love.
The song sounds upbeat, but the story behind it is rather heavy. It actually reminds us of Bob Dylan in terms of the storytelling and delivery, despite the modern and rhythmic production which keeps moving even when the lyrics break apart.
It truly shows how heartbreak can hide inside a happy melody. For this, Exzenya uses a warm blend of ukulele, guitar and light percussion to manifest this painful truth. The music feels sunny, but the words reveal regret.

The consciously astute artist admits how she tried to escape instead of connect. This is a very relatable notion to many of us, and the contrast makes the song feel authentic and human in its design. Truly, the track becomes a simple confession wrapped in folk-pop energy.
Exzenya sings with clarity and emotion, whilst she balances playfulness with sadness. She shows us that we cannot outrun ourselves, and instead self-realization and universal connect would be better options. In the end, the song is not about drinking at all. It is about the moment when the haze lifts and the truth comes forward. It is about learning who you are after losing someone you love.
As with all of Exzenya‘s hits, we are in awe, and will be adding the track to our playlists, when it is available on Spotify next week! In the meantime, please enjoy it on YouTube, and Audiomack!
