With Truth Over Lies, San Francisco-based multidisciplinary artist Michellar has delivered another stirring protest song for the uneasy times that we exist in. In that sense, it feels very zeitgeist. The soundscape is immersive, dimensional and emotive.
We learn that it was written during a California songwriting retreat by Michelle Bond, Michael Levine, and Matthias Schmidt. The track, performed by Frankie El, is designed to blend U2’s emotional sweep with Coldplay’s melodic drive, and this definitely manifests. It’s bold, heartfelt and human. In essence, it is a poignant reminder that honesty still matters.
The lyrics open in darkness: “Falsehoods spinning, we stopped believing…” It’s a world worn down by lies and fear. Yet, as the song unfolds, light begins to break through with the words, “The light on the hill / Stirs us to rise.” That conscious and empowering image becomes the song’s anchor.
The chorus feels like a call to arms. It’s direct and powerful. Michellar doesn’t hide behind poetry here, it is very literal. Every line delivered by vocalist Frankie El is a demand for courage and clarity. It’s about standing up, even when it’s easier to stay quiet.

We learn that the track was recorded between California, South Africa and Hollywood, carrying a global energy, which is proof that its message transcends borders. A message of unity, truth and oneness.
We are indeed standing up and rising up, placing the truth over lies in order to truly align with the future that we deserve for our shared planet. This is more than a protest song, it’s a statement of purpose. Michellar turns her frustration into hope, urging us all to find power in honesty and unity.
We have added Truth Over Lies to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Michellar, and anticipate future releases from the visionary, conscious artist!
