Establishing the mood with a fierce guitar soundscape, Mary Black opens Armageddon with a captivating vocal timbre and charismatic depth as she sings, “The time is here, no more time for hesitations, limitations, justifications, oh it’s here, no more sitting down for conversations, situations no no no no, think, nothing matters anymore…”
The message feels zeitgeist and existential. We are in awe of Mary’s poetic prowess and the depth that she shares with her creative mind and her prose. Naturally, we are living in some tumultuous times, and what better way for catharsis than to document this turmoil.
In essence, Armageddon is about reaching a breaking point. It portrays our current world, which is on the brink of collapse, where people can’t ignore what’s happening any longer. The lyricism suggests notions of urgency and the need for action.
It describes a sense of losing control and the feeling of falling into darkness. The prose creates an apocalyptic atmosphere which symbolizes both the physical and moral decay of our shared reality. Humanity is depicted as having gone too far, thus becoming parasitic and destructive.

In the face of despair, the song calls for courage. We needed this! Mary sings, “It’s time to be bold.” This line repeats like a mantra, turning the chaos into a challenge. Even as everything falls apart, there’s a glimmer of resistance, and a demand to face the end with strength and conviction.
Speaking on the release, Mary confesses, “I hadn’t written with any intent for many years. One afternoon I watched the news and realised that the world really has gone mad and we’re all going through a lot I’d needed heart surgery following the COVID vaccine, then there are wars popping up, AI taking over, the Doomsday Clock is the most forward it’s ever been, 89 seconds to midnight. The song refers to rewinding the dial. Then the UK protests started. My hope, in any small way, is that it can collectively spur people into improving things for all of us.”
Naturally, we deeply appreciate Mary’s intentional brand of song creation, and have added Armageddon to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the talented Mary Black.
