Establishing the mood with a dimensional synthscape, with astral textures, atmospheric vocal ad libs, Olivia Cox opens Goodbye For Now with a raw authenticity and high emotional quotient as she sings, “Well it feels like a break up, walking through the city of love…”
The opus expands with a cinematic vibe, perfect for a Netflix show like Emily in Paris – I mean, it is literally an ode to Olivia’s favourite city after all! She says, “This song is my love letter to my favourite city; Paris (in case you couldn’t tell lmao) but really, I hope that people will be able to relate to it in their own way whether that’s falling in love with the city they went to uni in, they place they did a season in, (ski or summer) moving to a new country and having these feelings when they visit home, or even as simple as not wanting to come home after the best vacation ever.”
The release marks Olivia Cox‘s most evocative work to date as the song serves as a delicate yet daring exploration of emotional liminality. We learn that the track was co-produced with Berlin-based talent Patrick Liegl.

We deeply appreciate how the song effortlessly straddles the lines between introspection and catharsis. Goodbye for Now really does feel like a conversation whispered in twilight. It is intimate, vulnerable and achingly real. The melancholic acoustic textures provide a soft emotional anchor, whilst the dreamy electronica undertones lift the song into a realm of quiet transcendence.
Beyond its sonic brilliance, Goodbye For Now succeeds because of its emotional authenticity. Olivia doesn’t just tell a story, but she invites us inside her universe, offering a relatable space to reflect, linger and to feel.
Fans of Tate McRae, Låpsley and Clairo might be able to connect with what Ms Cox is serving up, but there is also no doubt that she is manifesting a sonic universe unto her own design! We have added Goodbye For Now to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue streaming Olivia Cox‘s wider discography, including Paris, Last June, and Freaky.
