Establishing the mood with a rippling techno soundscape with sonic intricacy and a pulsating energy, Synaptic Velocity opens Synthetic Affection with dimensionality and intrigue. The opus expands with mediative synth notes, textured hi-hats and an overarching cinematic allure.
Immediately we can imagine the types of sync deals that Synthetic Affection would manifest – a Matrix sequel, a future episode of Limitless perhaps. Melodic riffs draw us in further with cosmic bell tones and chopped vocal samples which humanise the piece before a dramatic bass synth, echoed by an industrial synth adds further drama to the opus.
This now feels like it could fit into a scene from Blade or a dystopian sci-fi blockbuster – cerebral, jarring, and assertive. The composition remains in this frequency before returning to a meditative finale that references the more melodic elements of the piece, leaving us yearning for more.
Speaking on how Synthetic Affection came to be, Norwegian composer Synaptic Velocity confesses, “This release was born out of a period of reflection on the pace of modern life and the way technology continues to shape our identities and relationships. While there wasn’t one single life event that sparked it, I found myself deeply influenced by the tension between connection and isolation in a hyper-digital world.”

The artist continues philosophically, “Creating this track became a way to translate that feeling into sound: a blend of hypnotic rhythms and atmospheric layers that mirror both the beauty and unease of the future we’re heading toward. My philosophy while working on it was simple – use music as a lens to explore questions I couldn’t fully express in words. In many ways, the release is both a personal statement and a response to the world around me.”
Synaptic Velocity cites inspiration from artists like Massano and Anyma, weaving their melodic techno influences into a sound that balances emotional depth with driving energy. We can feel this manifest with Synthetic Affection, but it is also clear that the composer is designing a conscious sonic universe of his own.
We have added Synthetic Affection to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Synaptic Velocity, including Rise of the Robust, and Revoke.
