Establishing the mood with a cerebral, industrial and dynamic soundscape and ethereal rock vocals, Lera Shemi opens such a gooD boy with subversion and intrigue as she sings, “Yeah I promise baby I’m still worth it, give up all you learned to walk away from me, cause I’m back and I’m coming over, yeah I’m back, I’m so fucked…”
We immediately connect with the pulsating electronica energy of the track, and Lera’s raw and assertive authenticity. In essence, the dimensional opus is about desire and playful control. The lyrics mix vulnerability with teasing aggression. Lines like “I’m so fucked…” show emotional intensity laced with sexual tension. Lera positions herself as an irresistible force, who is dangerous, demanding attention.
The repeated phrase “good boy” is both a compliment and a sexual tease. The capitalized “D” in “gooD” hints at a more explicit meaning. We love this attention to detail. The lyrics play with notions of dominance and submission. Lines like, “I like you rough / But be careful with me” create tension between pleasure and caution.
As for the sound, there is a hybrid vibe at play here – a fusion of Grimes and Evanescence meets Charli xcx – it’s super TikTok friendly, and empowering at its core. We appreciate the sound design, the intricacies that manifest and its extremely sync deal friendly – perhaps an upcoming episode of Euphoria on HBO or Amazon Prime‘s Gen V.

Imagery of breaking in, screaming in the dark, and late-night calls adds urgency and excitement to the song, and we love how it explores attraction, taboo, and the thrill of giving in. The outro is exquisite with an atmospheric – trippy, and cerebral with a final whisper leaving us yearning for more.
Originally from Ukraine, Lera began making music at thirteen and honed her craft at Berklee College of Music, studying Music Production and Engineering. Now she is based in Los Angeles, and has worked in legendary studios including Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La and Berklee’s Shames Scoring Hall, bringing full creative control to her work!
Naturally, we have added such a gooD boy to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from Lera Shemi!
