We previously featured Elephant Moon when he took us on a slowcore adventure laced with freedom and spontaneity on debut single, Where Were You, so when we heard that the talented artist was back with Good Medicine, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with emotive strings, acoustic arpeggios and astral frequencies, Elephant Moon opens Good Medicine with words of comfort as he sings, “Take it easy on yourself, find a different way, you’re so tired, that you cannot sleep, your eyes puffy as can be…”
The opus evolves with an expanded consciousness as Elephant Moon encourages us to tap into notions of self care – to sit in the sun, find peace and ease our minds. We are in awe of Elephant Moon‘s philosophical and attuned brand of songwriting – at a time when we need it the most.
The music is high vibrational with an elevated emotional quotient with sublime chord progressions as Elephant Moon reminds us to go inward, and the importance of peace and calm. As we know, the world is in turmoil at the moment, the powers that be are seeking to divide us with rhetoric of “us versus them”, so we are eternally grateful to Elephant Moon for the consciousness that he inspires with Good Medicine. It almost feels like ayahuasca integration music, which is possibly his intention sonically, or at least the universe transmuting that energy through the artist.

Elephant Moon is Anders Dal’s alt singer-songwriter project, blending melancholic indie-folk with roots, folk, and subtle psychedelia. Whilst his debut single Where Were You served as dreamy and layered, Good Medicine feels raw and immediate, built around one-take guitar and vocals with haunting strings. “I wrote Good Medicine when I was totally burned out. It’s just a reminder to stop, breathe and just be”, confesses Anders.
Written and performed by Anders Dal, with violin by Barbara Bartz and bass by David Villanueva, the track was recorded by Nicolai Schmith, mixed by David Villanueva, and mastered by Antony Ryan. The video was filmed by Hilmar Darri Flygenring and edited by Anders Dal, while the artwork was created by Christina Dee at koncept62.com.
We have added Good Medicine to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Where Were You, and anticipate future releases from Elephant Moon!
