Drawing us in with a shimmering, astral synthscape, Aleksandra Picariello opens Talk with a brooding timbre and introspective depth with the words, “You are the one that believes me, get you I’m my worst enemy, I just need time to myself, so that I can think this one out…”
The opus expands with textured 80s-adjacent drums and a fierce delivery as Aleksandra Picariello shares authenticity with a cathartic intention. We appreciate the dramatic notions that manifest, and the hooks are sublime and captivating.
The middle eight is a trip, with layered vocals, a spoken word moment that inspires us to transform our pain into power! “Life is a bitch but we can change…” exclaims the star before a minimalist, mantra-esque finale!
Aleksandra Picariello, also known as Allie, cites David Bowie and Hans Zimmer as sonic influences for their avant-garde, cinematic sound – which we can feel come to life! There is no doubt that their Berklee-trained film scoring background adds depth and sophistication to their eclectic music.

Allie’s journey from cello prodigy to solo artist has been shaped by personal challenges. These include mental health struggles and substance abuse, leading to their transformative 2020 hospitalization. Allie’s debut EP, Legacy, reflects notions of resilience and emotional honesty. As for their dharmic mission, Allie wishes to raise awareness and offer comfort through music underscores their growing impact as both an artist and advocate.
Allie confesses, “I started on cello at nine years old, but my life completely changed when my cousin Cam started playing guitar and he encouraged me to play bass. He had a huge impact on my life. Once I started playing bass everything changed and I knew I wanted to play music for the rest of my life. I went to Berklee college of music and majored in film scoring because I loved movies and movie music. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs and setbacks with mental health issues and subsequent substance abuse as I tried to self-medicate. A hospitalisation in 2020 changed my life and I have been thriving ever since.”
Naturally, we have added Talk to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Aleksandra Picariello, and anticipate future releases from the star!
