Establishing the mood with a dimensional and shimmering piano performance, astral synths, psychedelic percussion, and cerebral breaths, Digging for Kanky open Send Me Away with an emotive delivery and the prose, “As I drown in the wake of a broken day, where the shadows dance and the sunlight fades away, I’ll pave the way, just stay…”
We are enthralled by the poetic prowess that manifests, and the cinematic nature of the genre expansive composition. Ben’s delivery is sublime, intentional, intelligently written, yet subversive and raw.
There is no doubt that Send Me Away would be perfect for a range of sync deals – perhaps a gritty British TV show like Supacell or Gangs of London. There is a deep rooted authenticity that comes to life, and we love the build of the track with pitched ad libs. The spacey production that evolves with half-step drums and stunning, and the sung hooks from Adam and Kat have us in our feels!

Speaking on the release, Ben confesses, “The lyrics in Send Me Away are a narration of escaping the chaos of the day to day grind on a sweaty dancefloor, in a smashed up old warehouse, when you’re totally in love with the room and just dying for a chewie.”
The high emotional quotient is beautiful – the string chops fused with textured drums with a brooding cello draws influence from Massive Attack, James Blake and The Streets, but truly, Digging for Kanky are creating a sonic universe of their own with their narrative of escapism and unique energy.
Naturally, we have added Send Me Away to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the band’s wider discography, including Rain, No Master, and Sundown.
